R.A.D. Kids
CLASSES
radKIDS is dedicated to providing our children with a hands-on, activity-based physical skill development program empowering our children with options, not fear. radKIDS provides our children with the instinctual options they need to recognize, avoid and if necessary respond to potential danger in their world today.
More than 3100 dedicated instructors have trained more than 150,000 children resulting in 62 confirmed saves from attempted abduction. radKIDS has always believed, and it is further proved by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children study, that the first few seconds of a potentially violent encounter are critical. When a child is approached or grabbed, the response needs to be immediate, instinctual and absolute.
This instinctual response can be "taught" and enhanced through individual demonstration, training and practice. radKIDS is dedicated to providing communities and families the tools they need to teach and empower your children with realistic options in their own personal safety. This training is for boys and girls ages 5 - 12 years old.
Here are answers to frequently asked questions:
1. Does my child have to attend all three days?
a. YES. This is a 10 hour, 3-day class. Each topic and technique taught builds on the next.
2. What does my child wear each day?
a. Comfortable clothing and lace-up tennis shoes. We ask that sandals and flip-flops not be worn.
3. As a parent or guardian, can I stay for the training as well?
a. We ask that a parent, guardian, or care giver stay in the class with the children all three days of training. In that way, you can see what is being taught and can apply the lessons learned to your family environment.
4. Will my child be frightened by any phase of the training or discussions?
a. NO, we have not had any child express fear or anxiety at any time in the class. This includes the physical defense training.
5. Will my child learn how to fight or will the physical defense training be used inappropriately?
a. radKIDS means Resisting Aggression Defensively. This means that the physical techniques learned are used to defend against someone who is trying to hurt the child; not as fighting skills. We have never had a parent contact us to say that their radKIDS inappropriately used the skills learned.
6. How much is the class?
a. To cover the costs of materials, refreshments, and training equipment, training fees are $25.00 per child. Payment can be made by cash or check payable to RAD Texas Education.
7. Will my child have fun?
a. ABSOLUTELY, and so will you!
